About the Vines and the Wines

Skelton Family Vineyards (SFV) wines are crafted from the finest grapes available and are grown in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley.

In 2012, Skelton Family Vineyards produced their first cases from 50 Dupratt and St. George vines.

Finding a mentor, long-time winemaker, Frank Pastori, SFV grew in the following years to produce more cases and more wines.  Pastori’s Geyserville-grown, Zinfandel grapes are the foundation of both the 2013 and 2014 vintages.  In 2014, SFV expanded to offer Petite Sirah with Dry Creek, CA grapes.  In 2016, a Carrigan-grape port (still in the barrel) was added to the family.

The 2016 harvest includes the original Dupratt and St. George grapes and Pastori’s Geyserville Zinfandel fully fermented in Leroi French Oak barrels.  Susie Shelby, owner of Selby Winery, is advising on production and blends.

The 2016 SFV Zinfandel is delicious and beautifully balanced. This wine presents enticing aromatics of raspberries, cherry, and a hint of toast and black pepper. On the palate, brambly flavors of ripe boysenberry and spicy dark chocolate come forward. The wine is complex, with bright acidity complimented by notes of berry syrup and mocha. The tannins are silky and smooth to lend a round, rich mouthfeel. From start-to-finish, this remarkable wine offers refreshing acidity paired with excellent structure.

Zinfandel Rosota 2018

SFV Rosata is a prime example of what a great rosé is all about. Supple soft fruit with firm but softening tannins explode in your mouth for a summer delight. This rosé has notes of dried strawberries and rose petal that are backed up with a racy acidity that makes this wine pop. Ideal for a warm summer day. Drink it now or lay it down for an even more mature rosé that resembles some of the great rosés of Provence.
